Another boring update... sorry

Susan and I sat down for a "consult" with my family physician today. She impressed Susan today, as she always has me. She laid out a plan for some things I haven't considered.
My surgeon was quite honest that he is a Urologist and isn't a heart or lung doctor. She took the bull by the horns and set up a lung scan, I have a spot on my lungs, and a GI scan. The biggest thing she did was reassure Susan as to why my surgeon hasn't already ordered a Pet Scan. The simple fact is he will not only remove my kidney, he will remove lymph nodes around my kidney. All will be tested for cancerous activity by the pathologist. If there is any activity outside the kidney an oncologist will immediately be involved. Otherwise, history tells them that the cancer has not spread.

So, the order of events: CT scan of my lungs this Friday, surgery on 10/13 to remove the kidney and then a GI to check on another issue, esophageal abnormality. The biggest concern at this point, outside of the kidney is the esophageal thing because it is a cancer indicator but she's not overly concerned and is content to leave that till after the kidney removal.
Sorry to be posting the details and being gloomy. I'm really not trying to. It is just therapeutic to share with my family. I am still VERY MUCH comfortable with this and know that I am in God's hands and have so many people praying for me that it's humbling, to say the least. I love you all. GO HOOS, beat Duke!!!!
